RACHNA’S PLAN FOR

AN EVEN BETTER BRADDOCK.

  • Every person should be able to call Fairfax County home. Expanding workforce and affordable housing, fair wages, and childcare and caregiving support ensures that people can put down roots and start families, seniors can age in place, and communities remain inclusive and strong. Whether starting out in life, building families and careers, or aging in the place that has been home for years, everyone should be able to live, work and play right here in this community we love.

  • Fairfax County’s public schools and universities are among the best in the nation—providing each child an excellent education, driving billions into the economy, and driving cutting edge research. From K–12 classrooms to our colleges, public education must be supported, not attacked. We must provide strong funding, support educators, protect academic integrity from the extreme MAGA agenda, and ensure every student has the resources to succeed. A strong public education system is critical to our future and for our democracy.

  • We must continue commonsense gun safety regulations, strong public safety infrastructure, and support for our first responders, and public safety personnel to keep our communities safe. On the school board, Rachna worked to ban guns in all school buildings and she will continue to focus on safe communities with community focused public safety.

  • Fairfax County can’t rely on homeowners alone. Revitalizing and repurposing commercial spaces, and attracting and retaining industries that match our strengths—like AI, cybersecurity, life sciences, and clean energy—ensures long-term stability, revitalizes the tax base, and reduces pressure on taxpayers.

  • Fairfax is ready to lead. Strategic investment in infrastructure and workforce development will help transform the county into a hub for future-ready industries to grow the economy and promote excellence, inclusion, and innovation. From Rachna’s work as a mergers and acquisitions attorney and on the School Board, she knows how to bring businesses and stakeholders together. She will work to expand Fairfax County’s industries to build a strong economy and sustain our services, schools, public safety, and parks and recreational spaces.

  • A strong economy starts with fair treatment for working people. As Chair of the School Board, Rachna built the coalition to unanimously pass a historic collective bargaining resolution. She will fight for living wages, safe working conditions, and protecting the right to organize— because dignity in the workplace benefits everyone.

  • Federal workers, federal contractors, and their families are essential to Fairfax County’s economy. We must support our federal workers and contractors by expanding access to local public sector jobs, job training, emergency assistance, and mental health support. Fairfax can lead with strong partnerships and smart policies that help public servants stay rooted in our community.

  • Mitigating traffic and providing safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists save lives, improve quality of life, and connect communities. From multimodal solutions and better transportation options, to fixing Braddock Road while protecting tree canopy, to addressing safety concerns on high traffic roads such as Burke Lake Road, to working closely with HOAs, VDOT and state officials to fix roads, sidewalks, and keep neighborhoods safe, and maintaining safe routes for children to walk, roll, or ride to school, Rachna will leverage her already existing partnerships to find smart solutions.

  • Good jobs should be within reach for everyone. Education is how Rachna’s parents were able to build a successful life and how Rachna found her own success. Workforce training is critical to a strong economy in Fairfax. Rachna will continue to work closely with FCPS, GMU and NOVA to align education, training, and apprenticeships with high-growth fields like skilled trades, clean energy, healthcare, and technology to prepare residents for long-term success in the modern economy.

  • No one should be left behind. We must provide strong and accessible services to meet neighborhood needs. When Rachna became a single mother after her husband died, she experienced first hand what it means to fight for her family’s survival. Rachna will work to expand access to health care, including mental health supports, preschool and child care, disability services, food security, domestic violence prevention services, and rapid crisis response for a compassionate Fairfax County where every resident has the opportunity to thrive.

  • One thing Rachna has loved about raising her family in Braddock is the strong sense of community. Communities need space to live, play, and gather. We must find a solution for Lake Accotink and renovate Audrey Moore Recreation Center for future generations, strengthen our "community of communities" by preserving our parks, trails, athletic fields, and playgrounds to improve quality of life and strengthen neighborhood connections.

  • Fairfax must take bold action to address climate change. We must do our part to protect the environment with a focus on promoting the use of clean energy, green infrastructure, and climate protection efforts to protect our planet, air, and water and build a healthier, more resilient future for all communities. This includes expanding charging infrastructure, increasing tree cover, reducing solid waste, and mitigating stormwater runoff.

  • Fairfax County should be a place where everyone feels welcome, safe, and valued. We must continue to stand up against Trump’s extreme agenda, and protect the rights of our citizens and our immigrants, expand access to opportunity, and ensure our schools, services, and neighborhoods reflect the values of dignity and respect for all. As the child of Indian immigrants, Rachna knows first hand how immigrants who come here for a better life for their children also contribute to making our economy and society stronger.
